Meet Heather!

Heather has two roles with Abode, one as Executive Director and one as a Mentor for our members. Heather believes the role of a mentor is simple- to help members be their best self! Heather is a big advocate for our #ABILITYFIRST message, and loves finding and creating opportunity for people of all abilities to actively participate in the community, to the best of their ability. Heather doesn't like to take herself too seriously and welcomes each day as an opportunity to live life to the fullest. She believes the best recipe to a full life is through dancing your heart out, laughing...lots of laughing, continuous self-development, and through coffee and potatoes of any variety!

Meet Natalie!

Natalie attributes her family’s mantra, “believe”, to bringing her where she is today. Growing up unsure of what she wanted to pursue as a career, Natalie naturally gravitated towards helping others. Graduating with distinction, in 2016 from the University of Windsor with a Honours degree in Developmental Psychology and a minor in Anthrozoology, Natalie ventured into the world of work in the school systems supporting children of a variety of abilities. After deciding the school system was not for her, she struggled to find “the job” for her. In May 2018 Natalie joined the Abode team and has never has looked back. She has taken on the role whole heartedly, loves, and is committed to everything Abode advocates for. Natalie’s natural curiosity and desire to learn has led her to develop a wide assortment of skills, ranging from auto repair to animal husbandry to crocheting, she truly is a “Jill of all trades”. Natalie has a passion and love for animals and has a variety of pets over the years, from furry paws to scaly claws. Natalie is a proud pet mom to 2 rabbits, a hamster, a dog, and a cat. Natalie is a strong believer in the benefits of animal assisted therapy, loves a good taco, and could easily eat a pack of Twizzlers.

Meet Bethany!

Bethany is a kindhearted and hard working Mentor with Abode. Bethany is also a fourth-year nursing student at the University of Windsor and soon to be graduate . She is passionate about helping people of all abilities reach their potential and loves being apart of that process. Bethany loves her role as a mentor and believes in Abode whole heartedly. Some of Bethany’s favourite things to do with Abode’s membership are to create new art projects, to go out and about in our community, and doing some good old fashioned cardio!
